How Long Can The Attendance Machine Ribbon Be Used?

The lifespan of a card punch time clock ribbon is affected by numerous variables and cannot be quantified.

The following are the main factors:

Frequency of Use and Print Volume: High-frequency clocking (e.g., multiple times daily) or high-volume printing accelerates ribbon depletion. For example, in a company with a large number of employees and frequent clocking, the ribbon replacement cycle may be shortened to 1-3 months. Conversely, in low-use scenarios, it may be extended to over six months.

1-Ribbon Quality: High-quality ribbons utilize a durable base and highly elastic material, reducing problems like fuzzing and breakage, thereby extending their lifespan. Low-quality ribbons can easily clog the print head and require frequent replacement.

2-Environment and Maintenance: Storage conditions (such as humidity, high temperatures, or direct sunlight) can degrade ribbon performance. Regular cleaning of the equipment can also indirectly extend ribbon lifespan. ‌‌

3- Practical Methods for Determining Replacement Time

Since the lifespan is not fixed, it should be assessed using the following methods:

‌1) Print Quality Deterioration‌: When time clocks become blurred, faded, or missing, it indicates the ribbon has run out of ink and requires immediate replacement. ‌‌
‌2) Regular Inspection‌: It is recommended to inspect the ribbon monthly, or every two weeks in high-use scenarios. If the ribbon is fuzzy, broken, or has hardened connectors, it should be replaced promptly. ‌‌
‌3) Device Alerts‌: Some attendance machine models (such as the Komi ET series) will sound an alarm or display an error code when the ribbon is exhausted. Please follow the instructions in the manual. ‌‌
